About Us

As someone who aspires to be able to travel the world, it’s been a dream of mine to travel to and explore the continent of Africa. I have been blessed to be able to travel across North America, the Caribbean and some European countries as well. I wanted to be able to see and experience where my ancestors came from. Due to the pandemic my plans were put on pause as the whole world shut down and braced for the impact of COVID-19. As things eased up, I finally got the opportunity to visit the country of Ghana in January 2021.

One of my first experiences was to go to the local market. As I travelled through the market, it was bustling with energy, life, and nonstop hustle. What else were the markets filled with? An array of different products and locally made fashions that were not common to where I am from in North America. I have always been an advocate for shea butter, as it has had many benefits for my skin. With my love of shea and seeing the production firsthand, I felt the need to share this with the world around me, as these items were all unique, natural, and processed directly by the women and men selling them.
Today, the industry is saturated with biproducts, fillers, and artificial supplements. With this, I saw an opportunity to introduce a more natural option to the North American market, as many people are leaning towards organic options. So, with this birthed Ava’s Beauty and Trends, where we provide all handmade, authentic products and unique fashions originating from the beautiful country of Ghana. The name of the company stems from my daughter Ava whom I hope to leave a legacy for with this.
